Click!

Earlier tonight, my dad was discussing some of my problems with me and how to fix them, and then he suddenly blurted out a quote to me: "nothing ventured, nothing won!"

Alarm bells rung in my head. A big clicking noise went in my mind. I felt like a big torch had suddenly been shone into the inner depths of my mind.

I used to know that quote a long time ago and would apply it to things... until i forgot about it.

If you know me well, maybe you can see in so many infinite ways that quote can be applied to me.

Anyway, I feel like I can convince myself to do so many more things now... I hope.

Your Father, of course, is correct. If you don't try to do something then you will definitely not be able to do it.

If you do try to do something, but cannot, then you probably just need more of a basic grounding in the subject. Try to look at the basics and figure out WHY things work that way. Read more on the subject, and try again. Of course, often one can just succeed at something through trial and error, especially in cases where a basic understanding is not available. Think about Thomas Edison, and the lightbulb. Where would we be now if he had thought after his first load of failures: "I am failing, I will never succeed, I am useless, I have wasted my life". Sure, someone else would probably have done it eventually, but we probably wouldn't have 3GHz processors by now. Would we even have gone to the moon?

If you can't figure out how to do something, just ask someone for help. Even if they don't know how to do it, they may be able to give you some ideas.

Anyway, I have no idea what you are reffering to. Elaborate, no one is going to think less of you because of whatever it is. Unless you killed someone through negligence that is, I hope you haven't killed anyone, YOU MORALESS ANIMALISTIC COWARD. Just kidding, I know you wouldn't do that.
